What language do you speak?
By Rev. Dr. Charlotte Comage Today in this 21st century, language has no limits, language is used to continue to communicate with small graphics icons, pictures, and symbols, to display our thoughts for friends, family, and others who hopefully share our blissfulness of positive approval. Language is specifically the human capacity for acquiring and using complex systems of acoustic signals to express thoughts and feelings, and language is used for the exchange of knowledge, ideas, thoughts, businesses, and experiences. Also, whether vocal, written or muted it is a form of communication that each of us uses to convey or respond to a relationship in our world frequently. However, I had to take a spiritual look at some of the overtones that we convey to others and gestures that one may take as offensive. One should respect the responses of others, and do so with love, respect, and consideration. So my thoughts of inspiration moved swiftly to the Bible, and then to the book of Colossians, Chapter 4:6, “where it states, “let your speech always be gracious, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how you ought to answer each person.” In other words, as Christians, it is a necessity to communicate in a way that has taste, poise, and good- manners. Now each of us knows that the world may not like our opinion on all matters from the heart, but we lose our effectiveness when we lose our Christ-like nature just to prove a point, which is not going to change or remake history. Furthermore, the bible instructs us to be “seasoned with salt”. So, let’s break this down with strong emphasis on your communication skills. Practicing this will help you increase your life. Especially if you trying to reach, grow, or build up your business. And besides some folks prefer “no-salt” in their diet but this article is to help one think about effective communication on every level. My friends, when we indicate and tell others that we love GOD and live for him then our communication must line up with GOD, also. YES, there is turmoil in this world, and YES, there are things that we do not like to see but one must not lose their focus and reflect on negative responses because the communication skills, which one uses, leave behind a vivid footprint of your true beliefs, concepts, and servanthood.
