Reverend Jesse L. Jones, Jr., Installed Pastor of Bethel Missionary Baptist Church, Morristown, TN

After preaching as Pastor-Elect of Bethel Missionary Baptist Church since March 27, 2022, the day for Rev. Jones to be installed as Pastor of Bethel had arrived.

The Worship Service

On Sunday, July 24, 2022, at 4:25 p.m. with a theme of “The Heart of A Pastor”, Rev. Joseph Senter, an Associate Minister at Bethel gave the call to worship, followed by the Master and Mistress of Ceremony, Deacon Dennis and wife, Evelyn Kyle asking the congregation to stand for the processional and Floral Presentation of Pastor-Elect, Rev. Jesse Jones escorted by his daughter, Elise Abner and Mrs. Jacqueline Jones escorted by her son, Russell Jones.

Rev. David Taylor an Associate Minister at Bethel read the scripture, 1 Peter 5:2-4 and prayed the afternoon prayer.

Worshippers were welcome and given the statement of occasion to Rev. Jones’s installation service by Deacon Dennis and wife, Evelyn Kyle, followed by two selections from Bethel Baptist Choir, “My Soul Is Anchored” & “You Been So Good To Me”.

Greetings were extended by Russell and Brittney Thompson, members of Bethel; a welcome letter from Dr. Dean Haun, Pastor of First Baptist Church, Morristown; Larry Shropshire, Director of Morristown’s Daily Bread; and Elder J. W. Dukes, Pastor of Faith Temple Church of God in Christ, Morristown.

Before the second installation selections “How Wonderful It Is To Know Jesus’ Promises” & “I Shall Wear A Crown” by Faith Temple Church of God in Christ Choir, Morristown, TN, Rev. Dr. William Butler, Moderator of Bethel District Baptist M&E Association and Pastor of Rock of Ages Baptist Church, Morristown, TN, presented the preacher of the hour, Rev. Dr. Harold Middlebrook, Sr., Pastor Emeritus of Canaan Baptist Church of Christ, Knoxville, TN, and former Tennessee Baptist M&E Convention President.

Rev. Middlebrook’s installation message was “You Have A Pastor” from Ephesians 4:6-8, defining the characteristics of an Apostle, Evangelist and Pastor-Teacher. The invitation to discipleship was given by Rev. Derrick Wakefield, Pastor of Freedom Fellowship Christian Church, Knoxville, TN.

The Installation Ceremony

The charge to the pastor was given by Rev. Lester Lattany, Pastor of Friendship Baptist Church, Johnson City, TN, and former Moderator of Bethel District Baptist M&E Association. The charge to the church and response was given by Rev. Dr. William Butler; Rev. Richard Brown, Pastor of Payne Avenue Baptist Church, Knoxville, TN, and Moderator of Knoxville District Baptist M&E Association pray the installation prayer of consecration. Deacon Carroll Thompson, Co-Chairman of Bethel Deacon Board presented a commemorative gift to Rev. Jones from the deacons, trustees and the church, followed by Rev Joseph Holifield, former Pastor of Phillippi Baptist Church, Elizabethton, TN, and Rev. Jones’s brother-in-law presented the new pastor and his wife.

Remarks were given by the newly installed Pastor, Rev. Jesse L., and Mrs. Jacqueline Jones, Jr., thanking the installation committee, the participants, their family, and former members of Macedonia Baptist Church, Newport, TN, and everyone for making this a memorable day.

Rev. Jones closed the installation celebration by giving his first benediction as the pastor of Bethel Missionary Baptist Church, Morristown, Tennessee.
