Clark College Alumnus, Rev. Dr. Jerry LaVon Kincaid, Sr.

Dr. J. LaVon Kincaid, Sr. is a native of Bristol, Tennessee, and Atlanta, Georgia. He accepted a call for ministry at the tender age of 16 and was appointed pastor of West Market Street Methodist Church, Johnson City, Tennessee at age 17 while a senior in High School.
He holds the following academic degrees from three HBCU colleges:
Dr. Kincaid, the well-educated and highly successful minister, has pastored nine churches in his career in the United Methodist Church including the Russellville charge (while in College); Golden UMC, Douglasville, Georgia, while in Seminary; the 1,000 member Centennial UMC, Kansas City, Missouri; the 1500 Union Memorial UMC, St. Louis, Missouri; Laketon Heights UMC, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania for 15 years. In 2014, he founded his current church, The New Life Community Ministry of Penn Hills, Pennsylvania, becoming Senior Pastor, Overseer, and Bishop designated by the apostolic order of the Right Connect Covenant Fellowship USA.
He has traveled extensively throughout the world (five Continents) including Africa, Cuba, Korea, Japan, Mexico, and other countries, preaching and teaching on Evangelism, Tithing, and Stewardship. He is the author of two major books and many articles on the principles of Christian stewardship and church growth.
Dr. Kincaid has served on the Penn Hill, Pennsylvania Township Council for the past 13 years. The Honorable Dr. Kincaid has received numerous honors, awards, and keys to the city. For nine years, he served as the first African American Director of Stewardship, Nashville, Tennessee. He also served as the first African American District Superintendent in the Western Pennsylvania Conference of The United Methodist Church and Assistant to the Bishop for eight years.
Bishop Kincaid and his wife, Lady Bobi, are the parents of two sons: Lamar and LaVon Jr. (Lynn), and the grandparents of Jalen LaVon and Jaralyn Joy, Nicole, and step-granddaughter, Kiana.
Dr. Kincaid’s hobbies include fishing, photography, and writing.
