Knoxville, TN- It is only fitting that one of the stories covered this month of March celebrating women features two history makers. Stella Bridgeman and Priscilla Duenkel were appointed as the deans for two of the five campuses of Pellissippi State Community College. Dean Bridgeman has taken the helm of the Magnolia Avenue Campus, and Dean Duenkel will lead the program in Blount County. It is the first time in the college's history that two African Americans have held these positions.
Snowflake Ball Raises $117,000
Knoxville, TN- The Snowflake Ball, one of the most anticipated balls of the year, raised over $117,000 for the CAC Office on Aging Senior Companionship Program. The ball, attended by over 1000, many of whom were Knoxville's dignitaries and leaders, was a sellout. The companionship program provides a small stipend to volunteers who provide services to keep the seniors in their homes by providing companionship, transportation, cooking light meals, even doing light tasks around the home. The evening features silent auctions, live music with big bands, and local personalities. The King and Queen fundraiser held before the ball raised over $78,000 of the total funds collected.
