Johnson City AME Zion District Missionary Holds Prayer Breakfast
By Rev. Pamela Hoard, AHERN Staff Writer / 5-1- 2022
On Saturday, April 9th, the members of the Johnson City District of the AMEZ Church gathered for a Women's Prayer Breakfast for the first time in 2 years. Formerly an annual event, this breakfast was not being held due to Covid restrictions. The district, which ranges from White Memorial AMEZ in Middlesboro, to St. Paul in Johnson City, and Williams Chapel in Big Stone Gap, VA, was well attended.
The music ministry was provided by missionary Lori Hale of the Powerful New Life Church in Kingsport, TN, and Dr. Charlotte Comage, Pastor of St Paul AME Zion Church in Johnson City, TN.
Prayers were led; For our State by Sis. Janice Wells; For our Nation, Rev. Sandra Jones; For the Persecuted People, Dr. Charlotte Comage; For our Children, Sis. Crystal Fair; For our Women, Sis. Gail Deadrick. We were blessed also by Ms. Gypsy Townsend Lundy, who shared a poem, “A Mothers Love” by Langston Hughes.
Our speaker, Buffy Dunnaville, one of Zions daughters who grew up in the fellowship of White Memorial I Middlesboro, Ky was the guest speaker. Bringing her heart to the message, she encouraged the members to engage in community by asking the question, “Can God Count On You?” Ms. Dunnaville was introduced by her mother and faithful servant of the Lord, Ms. Romelle Dunnaville.
Those present received hand made bracelets from the heart of Mrs. Crystal Fair as well as many gifts that were given by random drawings. Rev Roger Mills was on hand to document the event in pictures. Thanks be to God for his Amazing Grace. He keeps doing great things.
