Churches Elect Pastors, Ordain Deacon and Pastors Observed Pastoral Anniversaries

Morristown, TN– Bethel Baptist Church has elected Rev. Jesse L. Jones, Jr. Rev. Jones comes to Bethel after serving Macedonia Baptist Church in Newport, TN for 14 years. He is the Vice-Moderator At Large for the Bethel District Baptist M&E Association, and Student & Family Support at Project GRAD at Austin-East High School, Knoxville, Tennessee. Rev. Jones holds a B.S. degree from East Tennessee State University in Johnson City, TN.
Rev. Jones is married to Jacqueline Hampton Jones, who is a graduate of Walters State Community College, Morristown, TN, and attended East Tennessee State University, Johnson City, TN. They are the parents of Elise Abner and Russell Jones.
Knoxville, TN– Tabernacle Baptist Church elected Rev. Vincent Jones, Jr. as their pastor in September 2021. Rev. Jones comes to Tabernacle from Wheat Street Baptist Church in Atlanta, Georgia, where he served as the Executive Pastor. Rev. Jones preached his first sermon as pastor of Tabernacle on the 4th Sunday in October 2021. Rev. Jones holds a B.S. from Morehouse College and a M.Div. from Morehouse School of Religion at ITC in Atlanta, Georgia.
Rev. Jones is married to Alicia Jones, lovingly known as Lady J. They are the parents of Camile and Vincent III. Rev. Jones is the son of Dr. Vincent and Montina Jones formally of Knoxville, Tennessee.
Installation services for both Jones will be announced later.
Jefferson City, TN– Rev. Cecil Mills, Jr., pastor of Friendship Baptist Church, Greeneville, TN, Rev. Richard Brown, Jr., TN Baptist M&E Convention Eastern Regional President and Senior Pastor of Payne Avenue Baptist Church, Knoxville, TN, Rev. Carl Bragg, Assistant Pastor of Friendship Baptist Church, Greeneville, TN, Rev. Nathaniel Wilson, Jr., pastor of Martha Davis Baptist Church, and Deacon Eddie Langston of Martha Davis gathered at 2:00 pm on Sunday, February 20, 2022, to examine John Luther Bowen.
After completing their examination, Rev. Brown, serving as council secretary reported that Mr. Bowen had passed, and recommended that Mr. Bowen be ordained as a Deacon at Martha Davis.
Immediately following the report, Rev. Mills delivered the ordination message, “Kicking The Dust” from Acts 6:1-5. Music was provided by Martha Davis Baptist Church Choir.
Following the message, Rev. Brown gave the charge to Mr. Bowen; Rev. Carl Bragg prayed the ordination prayer. The preachers and deacons encircled Mr. Bowen for the laying on of hands prayer, led by Rev. Wilson, followed by Rev. Mills giving the charge to the church.
Ann Bowen, wife of Deacon Bowen gave remarks. She stated how happy her mother would be to see this day, as she always told Johnny “you can run, but God’s will, will be done.” The Bowens were joined by daughter, Roxanne, and son, Jordan

Elder Ventrus and Melba Norfolk observed their 27th Pastoral Anniversary on March 20, 2022, at Mt. Olive Baptist Church Assembly in Morristown, TN.
Rev. William and Henrietta Caldwell celebrated their 25th Pastoral Anniversary on March 6, 2022, at Mt. Sinai Baptist Church in Clinton, TN.
Reverend Dr. Charles Lomax celebrated his 10th Pastoral Anniversary on March 13, 2022, at St. John Missionary Baptist Church in Alcoa, TN.
