Beal Bourne Inducted into Big Brothers Big Sisters Hall of Fame

KNOXVILLE, TN- Mr. Bill Bourne, owner of Jarnigan's Mortuary, the oldest black-owned business in Knoxville Tennessee, was inducted into the Big Brothers Big Sisters of East Tennessee Hall of Fame for his 50 years as a mentor to many young men. Bourne is also the first African American Big Brother in the East Tennessee organization. 

The award was presented to him during the annual Big Night Our Awards Gala in downtown Knoxville before a crowd of over 500.

Mr. Bourne, in his interview tape during the awards gala, explained how he was raised up with 12 children in his parent's home.  Having been raised in a loving and supportive environment where there were kids in the household all the time, he learned the importance of reaching out to someone else
