Power In The Word
July 2021

Philippians 4:8 Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report: If there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.

The word of God is powerful and filled with Holy Ghost power. Years ago I awoke hearing the Lord say three times “there’s power in the word”. It’s encouraging to know that God’s word does exactly what it says it will do. Having been thrust in the throes of spiritual warfare, dependence on the word was paramount in defeating the enemy. We can defeat ourselves with negative thinking. By faith Philippians 4:8 is a great reminder to take captive every thought and align it with the righteousness of God, and to guard our thoughts and what we invest our time thinking about.

As life unfolds, respond in a way that pleases God and reflects Him favorably in the world. It is important to apply the word in our lives with the power of the Holy Spirit coursing through us and strengthening us. Do we spend time in the word? What are we filling our minds with? Do our thoughts and responses reflect who we are in Christ? When the enemy assails us, just ask yourself “What would Jesus do?. We aren’t powerless. We can choose positivity and rebuke the enemy of negativity!

When anxious, choose thankfulness! When down, look up to the hills for the Lord’s help! When persecuted, praise Him! When lost, remember what He’s done for you! The word of God empowers and edifies us individually and as a church. The word of God comforts, calms imparts peace, deliverance, directs, corrects, and so much more! Think on it!

Finding Your Purpose (Isaiah 43:7)
May 2021

Have you questioned what life is about and what your purpose is? At the very core, God created you to be in a relationship with him, to worship him, to praise him, to love him, to be loved by him, and to serve him. He desires a close relationship with you, and one that is cultivated and filled with quality time spent together. Our Lord has designed your path so that you will seek him, thirst for him, study him, and meditate on him to guide you on this journey.

Maybe your purpose will drop into your lap with such obviousness. That would be nice considering that God has already equipped you with everything you’ll need to be used for his glory. There are talents, gifts, and abilities that may be dormant in you, but the Holy Spirit beckons you to do your important work in the body of Christ. We each have valuable services to administer in the body of Christ to give with loving obedience, commitment, and trust that no matter what happens in life we have a Savior who equips us to be victorious. Faith is required on this journey, so even if what the Lord has for you seems daunting, trust him with your whole heart and do whatever he leads you to do even if you do it scared! Step out on faith despite fear, and the Lord will meet you right where you are empowering your ministry!

An adage I cling to is that what God has for me, it is for me. So I can confidently tell you, that what God has for you, it is for you! Not only this, but he has specially designed you to do his works tailor-made for you and to his exact specifications. So, I challenge each of you to go out into this world and be what God has created you to be. He has equipped you to accomplish your purposes by living in His will, in His Way, and in His Plan. If you will become clay in the Potter’s hands surrendering all to Him, then as a result, you will bring the light of Jesus into the darkness bringing glory to God for the world to see. Therefore, there is no need to compare yourself to others for what God is doing in you embodies his precise plan just for and unique to you! Remember, you have a specific and necessary part to play within the body of Christ so that your contribution works seamlessly with other members in the body to perfect and edify the Kingdom of God.

Seek the Lord in all things in every circumstance. Place your confidence in the Him, for He will not lead you astray. You want answers for what your life is all about, then seek Jesus and listen to the Holy Spirit. Praise him, study his word, and pray to him continually. All that matters in this life is what you do for Christ!
